Policy Post #5 - Repeal and Replace... or not!!

Watch these 3 videos - the top one describes the Affordable Care Act, the second one explains how well (or not) it is working - though 2 years old already, and the 3rd is the Graham Cassidy Bill (GCB) which is "The last car leaving..." aka the Republicans last chance to repeal and replace ACA.

Your job:

1.  Research something the above has made you wonder.  Post the site you used.

2. Would you vote in favor of or against GCB if you were a Congressman when it reaches the floor for the 90 seconds of debate and then the vote this week?  Why or why not?  Explain your answer, citing something from the article you found.

3.  React to a classmate's post that you disagree with, explaining why respectfully.

Policy Blog # 4 Fix the Tax Code !!!

You find your own article this time - but it has to be from the opposite side of the "aisle" from your own current ideological beliefs.  Answer one or more of the following questions with your choice of article:

1.  What is wrong with the tax code today?
2.  How should the tax code be fixed?

You will write a 4 part post.  Label in the following way:

A:  Post title of article you used and the link to this article.
Summarize how your article would answer 1 and / or 2

B:  Discuss the source and on what you based its ideological lean.

C:  React to this article's opinion.  Remember that you were supposed to find a source ideologically opposite your own.

D:  Comment on any classmate's post ON WHOSE OPINION YOU DISAGREE, respectfully.

POLICY BLOG #3 - NORTH KOREA NUCLEAR THREAT

Start by reading this FAST FACTS / TIMELINE

A             - How real is the threat?

B             - What foreign policy tools do we have to address this threat?  What can / should we do?

C             - What have we done thus far?  Evaluate this approach.  How are Dems vs. Reps / Libs vs.       Cons differing on this evaluation?

D             - What is the rest of the world doing / saying?

Find and read an article that will add to your understanding of the assigned question.  For your post start with pasting the question above that you explored (signaling to class which one you explored).  Leave a line or two between that topic and a paragraph summary / answer of the article you have chosen.  (Always include the link of the source you used).

For your exploration of classmate’s posts later in the week, explore other posts and comment / react to a student on the same topic you explored.

Read this for background on immigration and the DACA policy currently in jeopardy

Your post this week requires 4 items.  

1 paragraph reaction to the article.  This could include discussing this source / validity / and bias of this article, or it may stay focused on the content alone.

2 website of a source you found that can give you depth / perspective on the topic  - just paste the link so that readers may follow it if they choose to.

3  A 2nd paragraph a summary of what your selected article adds to the story.

4  React to a classmate's post at some point prior to class on Friday.  This reaction need only be 2 - 3 sentences.  BE RESPECTFUL AND OPEN MINDED!!
